Bastardo is a noble variety, despite its name invoking something unwanted or controversial. It is mainly present in field blends from old vines in the Douro, which is why it is rarely vinified solo. It is undoubtedly a demanding variety in the vineyard but it produces wines with an open color, which surprise us with their high expressiveness, delicacy and great finesse.
