Era uma vez...
A DREAMER.
Francisco Ferreira (Grandpa Pôpa) was the bastard son of a great Douro wine producer and his maid, Joaquina Ferreira. He lived a simple but happy life, albeit in the shadow of his unknown father on record. He married Filomena with whom he had three children. He was a very charismatic person, known and respected by those around him. Today, even though he is no longer with us, he is the inspiration of the Ferreira family: an exemplary father, creator of a fantastic legacy, the Pôpa family, with fundamental family values. His greatest dream was to be recognized and valued for his work and (of course) by his father. He never achieved this in his lifetime.

THE CREATOR.
A generation later, his son José Ferreira (Zeca do Pôpa) made it happen by buying part of Quinta do Vidiedo, located in Adorigo, Tabuaço, in the heart of the Douro Wine Region. In homage to his father, he changed the name of the property to Quinta do Pôpa.
His search for independence began very early in life at the vineyard, right after he finished 4th grade. His father taught him hard work and resilience; life taught him courage. The journey was long and arduous. But after much effort, the acquisition of this property has rejuvenated him, giving him the recognition that – as a child and in this very region – his father had so longed for.
Later, his friend Luís Pato, a winemaker from Bairrada and lover of the Douro, offered his technical knowledge to the family, challenging the third generation Pôpa to expand this dream.

TWO CONQUERING BROTHERS.
In 2010 Stéphane and Vanessa Ferreira both set foot in the Douro, marking it with a new, more youthful and dynamic vision.
Stéphane, with his love of wine and great passion for music, brings a new approach to the traditional and elegant wines of the Douro. While respecting tradition, he is open to experimentation and gives rise to new wavy wines.
Vanessa brought her feminine and artistic touch to the project. A dreamer and strongly rooted to her home in the Douro, she works on sustainability and wine tourism with great passion, both down to the last detail.

A UNITED TEAM.
Today, Quinta do Pôpa is surrounded by a wide range of agricultural practices, some of which are already managed biodynamically and organically: not only vineyards and olive groves, but also orchards and vegetable gardens, which are very important for the biodiversity of natural ecosystems and the uniqueness of the landscape. Wine, olive oil, vegetables and fruit are produced.
